In our competition concept we elevated the arrival level of the visitor centre above the vineyard so the landscape can be admired from a unique perspective. The heritage of the traditional architecture can be traced in some parts of the building, while its spiraling mass is modern and dynamic. It inspires and invites to explore.

In our concept the subtle composition of the new elements related to the ruins of the medieval church and the monastery simultaneously evokes the original spatial structure, preserves the romantic atmosphere of the ruins and integrates new functions that meet contemporary needs. The mass of the new visitor centre is placed below the level of the garden-ruins, focusing the view on the church. In the design, the old and new constructions are visibly separated, yet complement each other.

Although cider, the alcoholic drink made of fermented apples, is a relatively new drink in Hungary, its manufacturing has a several centuries old tradition in Europe. It encompasses autumn, the golden rays of the sun, the warm colours of foliage and the taste of fruits. Inspired by nature, seasoned with such delicacies, freshness and tradition are united in the fruit processing cider factory’s building designed on the hills of Etyek.

Connecting to the coastline of the new harbor, we designed a well-structured, sailboat club and hotel complex integrated into the landscape in Alsóörs. The municipality and the investor set the goal of developing an exemplary project that, with its harmonious design with the surroundings, can serve as a model for other developments along the Balaton shore. Our studio proposed an exciting two-level waterfront concept for this purpose.

The volcanic slope of Padi-hill where the landscape is shaped by the historical vineyards of the World Heritage Wine Region of Tokaj is the birthplace of a new experience. The new Sauska Winery does not only answer to modern industrial needs but it also caters to our client’s wish for the building to stand out while safeguarding the traditional landscape.
