Hajdúnánás, Hungary
Our design envisions an international-standard motorsport facility near Hajdúnánás, capable of hosting both domestic and world championship events. The heart of the complex is a 4.7 km long circuit designed in accordance with FIM and FIA regulations. Set within a 500-hectare area, the circuit is accompanied by diverse sports, educational, and entertainment facilities, ensuring the venue remains active and accessible year-round, far beyond race weekends.
“Our relationship with speed is both thrilling and intimidating. We are mesmerized by the forces of nature—the rush of rivers, the fluttering of leaves racing in the wind. Our architectural concept focuses on capturing this sensation of limitless velocity and dynamic motion.” – Péter Bordás
Hajdúnánás MotoGP circuit and multi-purpose auto-motorsport complex
Our studio’s proposal addresses the complex program in a unique and integrated way. At its core lies the circuit, whose layout evokes the energy flows found in nature. Pronounced embankment traces the path of the circuit, rising up to 12 meters in two sections and creating a canyon-like or “riverbed” formation. Key architectural elements—such as the main entrance building, conference centre, hotel, and grandstands— are composed as integral parts of this sculpted landscape, enhancing the perception of speed and channelling the powerful energies that pulse through the track.
For optimal race-day safety, all race management and operational functions are located within the secure inner ring defined by the track itself. The spectator areas—comprising the main grandstand, natural and mobil grandstands—accommodate nearly 105,000 fans.
Hajdúnánás MotoGP circuit and multi-purpose auto-motorsport complex, Pit building
The pit building is the architectural centrepiece of the circuit. Its defining feature is a multi-level asphalt surface that forms a kind of sculptural traffic artery. The pit building traditionally marks the threshold between the team paddocks and the pit lane, and in our concept, the VIP and media zones rise as a continuous ribbon above the asphalt surface, forming a bridge over the pit garages. Ramps allow vehicular access to the first level. The flooring is finished in asphalt, echoing the painted runoff zones of the track—immersing visitors in the race-day atmosphere. A steel roof structure shelters the building, its design harmonizing with the roofline of the grandstand opposite.
Hajdúnánás MotoGP circuit and multi-purpose auto-motorsport complex, Welcome Centre
The facility remains open even outside of race days. The complex’s main public plaza—featuring the Welcome Centre, Entrance Building and an artificial lake—connects from the outside to the canyon-like landform that traces the circuit. This area serves as the main centre for the racing kart, rallycross, dirt track, flat track, and rental kart circuits as well as the driver training centre. Slightly further out, designated zones support research and development activities.
